Stopped by the small Lake off the Tescos Roundabout this morning (sounds idyllic eh!) I believe the Lake is still officially a part of the Priory Country Park and is next to The Great Ouse. Still some ice and found this Grey Heron & Mute Swan taking a rest, light still not great but beggars can't be choosers.
Popped into Priory Marina on my way to work (1st day back!) this morning in the hope of seeing the partial eclipse, unfortunately like so many others I was thwarted by the the cloud cover. The main lake has still a lot of ice but I was able to observe lots of birds on the unfrozen section (too far away to get decent images)
This Heron has been close to my garden since the start of the cold snap, the attraction is the pond in my neighbours garden. It dropped in on the old outhouse this morning and I had enough time to get to the attic room to get this shot. It was pretty misty and a little too far away for an ideal shot but still the best Heron capture I have managed so far. The female Great Spotted Woodpecker paid a fleeting visit and there were some Redwings in the trees at the bottom of the garden (a garden list tick for me). So all in all an excellent hour and I didn't even step out of the house!
