Ever Present Dunnock & Goldfinch

Had a very busy day today and rushed into my Cardington Garden after work to see the birds around the feeders. Whatever the weather two species that are always present are the Dunnock and Goldfinch and here are a few images in not so brilliant light. Unfortunately my photography session was cut short anyway because the batteries died and I had committed the ultimate sin of leaving the spare set inside the house!

More of the Usual Suspects

Very busy today, so just a short time to sit in my Cardington Garden and get a few bird captures.

A Couple More From The Garden

I took an excellent walk in the vicinity of 100 Acre again this morning. Lots of birds of the main lake: Greylag, Canadas, Wigeon, Gadwall, Mallard, White Fronted Goose, Tufted Duck, Coot, Moorhen, Redshank, Lapwing, Blackheaded Gull, Cormorant, Grey Heron, Common Gull. Also saw Long-tailed, Great and Blue Tit, Chaffinch, Treecreeper, Wood Pigeon, Collared Dove, Rook & Crow, Pheasant. Red Legged Partridge, Magpie.

The only downside was that photo opportunities were very few, so these images were taken later in the day in my Cardington garden.

Saturday Garden Birding

I usually have a lot of jobs to do on a Saturday so normally content myself with an hour in my garden photographing the birds.

100 Acre Walk

Took a walk along cycle track 51 from Priory Country Park to Meadow Lane by the side of 100 Acre Field and lake this morning before work. The birds are too far away to photograph but it was a joy to see good numbers and species.

100 Acre
The lake is fairly devoid of bird-life near to the cycle track but large numbers of birds congregate at the far end. Species seen included Greylags,  Canadas,  BHGs, Gt Crested Grebe, Oystercatchers, Gadwall, Mallards, Coots,  Tufted Duck, Lapwing, Wigeon, Redshank, Mute Swan and Cormorant.

On my way back to the car I stopped a while on the old railway bridge over the Great Ouse:

While standing on the bridge I saw a Mink swimming into the main river from the cut. The Mink headed into the reeds and this Water Rail popped out!

Riverside Walk in the Mist

Danish Camp to Gadsey Brook via Willington Lock. Very misty this morning the sun was just about burning off the gloom as I left for work.

Great Ouse River Walks

I took a stroll from Great Barford Bridge to Cuckoo Bridge Lake this morning before work. It was a beautiful morning and the colours of Spring were a joy to see.

Morning Stroll Around Priory CP

Found myself with a welcome and unexpected 30 minutes free time before work this morning, it was such a beautiful morning  I didn't want to let it go to waste. My only problem was dragging myself away to go to work!

Noticeably fewer birds on the main lake this morning, mainly Mute Swans, Canada Geese, Cormorants, Gt Crested Grebe, Black-headed Gulls and Mallards. On the Fingers, Gadwall, Tufted Duck, Mute Swans Canada Geese, Coot and Moorhen.
