Meadow & Butterflies

Elstow Brook at Cardington was dredged last year which destroyed most of the brookside meadow. There has been no lasting damage to the grasslands which has recovered really well but dragonfly numbers have been severely reduced. There have been a lot a of Butterflies.

Great Spotted Woodpecker

We get the occasional visit from a Great Spotted Woodpecker and in the last few days a male has been feeding from the peanut feeder and passing on the food to a Juvenile. This is a first for our garden and very gratifying, the birds are very flighty so getting a decent capture impossible. These images were captured through are kitchen window and serve primarily as decent record shots.

Juvenile Starlings

The antics of Juvenile Starlings are a joy to behold, had about 75 around the feeders today, monopolising the entire area.
